Connect Zeffy

Zeffy's API is free for every organization. You need to be the organization's owner or an admin in Zeffy.

Get your API key

  1. Sign in to Zeffy as the organization owner or an admin.
  2. Open Settings, then Integrations.
  3. Choose the API option, describe your use (for example "Tidyfield Donor Sync: copy our donations into Google Sheets") and click Get my API key.
  4. Copy the key. Zeffy shows it only once.

Then in the sidebar open Sources, paste the key under Zeffy and click Connect. Donor Sync tests it first and only saves a key that works. After that the key is shown only as its last 4 characters.

What Donor Sync reads

  • Payments, including refunds, partial refunds and disputes
  • Campaigns and forms, with their goals
  • Contacts, for phone numbers (you can turn phone numbers off in Settings)
  • Recurring details on each payment

Donor Sync only reads. It never changes anything in Zeffy.

Good to know

  • Zeffy does not tell apps which payments changed, so every sync re-reads the last 45 days (you can change this in Settings) and once a week re-reads the last 13 months to catch late refunds.
  • Zeffy allows 100 requests a minute for your whole organization. If Donor Sync is asked to slow down, it stops and continues on the next run.
  • Zeffy charges your organization no platform or processing fees, so the Fee column is 0 for Zeffy gifts.
