Import a CSV file
For gifts from any platform without a direct connection: PayPal, Stripe, Give Lively, a bank export, or your old donor spreadsheet.
Steps
- Export the gifts from the other platform as a CSV file. Up to 5 MB per file; split a long history into date ranges.
- Open Extensions > Tidyfield Donor Sync > Import a CSV file, or Import a CSV file in the sidebar.
- Choose the file. Donor Sync suggests which column is the date, the amount, the email and so on, and shows a preview.
- Check the source name (it appears in the Source column, for example "PayPal"), the date order, the currency and the decimal style. Fix any column choice in the list.
- Click Import. The reports update when it finishes.
Good to know
- No duplicates. Importing the same file again updates the same rows. With a gift ID column, matching uses the ID; without one, it uses the whole row.
- Remembered columns. Your column choices are saved for files with the same headers, so next month's export imports in two clicks.
- Dates. Day/month/year or month/day/year is detected from the file. When every date could be read either way, Donor Sync uses your spreadsheet's locale and asks you to check.
- Amounts. "1,234.56", "1.234,56 €", "$40" and "40 USD" all work. Rows without a readable date or amount are skipped and listed so you can fix them.
- Statuses. Words like Completed, Refunded or Pending are understood; refunded and failed gifts are not counted in reports.
- Do not import a connected platform's CSV. If Zeffy, Givebutter or Donorbox is connected, its gifts already sync; importing its CSV too would count them twice.
- To remove an import, open Sources, find it under "Any other platform" and click Delete.
