Connect Givebutter

Givebutter's API is free. You need to be an admin of your Givebutter account.

Get your API key

1. Sign in to Givebutter as an admin.
2. Open Settings, then Integrations, then API keys.
3. Click Create New API Key and name it, for example "Tidyfield Donor Sync".
4. Copy the key (it starts with live_). Givebutter shows it only once.

Then in the sidebar open Sources, paste the key under Givebutter and click Connect. Donor Sync tests it first and only saves a key that works. After that the key is shown only as its last 4 characters.

What Donor Sync reads

• Transactions, including refunds and the fees you paid
• Campaigns, with goals and the totals Givebutter reports
• Recurring plans, where your account lists them
• Donor contact details on each transaction

Donor Sync only reads. It never changes anything in Givebutter.

Good to know

• Keys that start with test_ only see test-mode transactions. Use a live_ key for real gifts.
• Givebutter reports which transactions changed, so after the first download each sync only reads what is new or updated.
• Givebutter allows about 60 requests a minute. A large history may take a few runs; it continues by itself.
• Fees: when a donor covers the fee, the Fee column shows only what your organization paid.
